My name is Lauren, and I live in the bubble. I am wife to Marshall, the biggest BYU fan in the world; and mother to Carly, our big girl, and Wes, our wild man, and Calvin, our new addition. I graduated BYU with a degree in Social Work, and I went forth to serve at LDS Family Services. I like scrapbooking and going out to eat at nice restaurants. I am fascinated by new cleaning products at the grocery store, so I have to shop in wide circles around the perimeter to avoid the temptation to buy. I love chocolate.

Breaking Dawn

We went at midnight last night to buy the latest book of the Twilight series. When I say "we," I mean me and Marshall. Whose idea was it to go buy the book at midnight? Marshall's. Who has read all the books religiously and had a semi-countdown to last night? Marshall. Marshall was one of the only guys there. And he was certainly the only guy who was genuinely excited. It was cute.

The only other midnight book buying I have been on was the 6th Harry Potter a couple summers ago. I am the kind of person that gets mad at a book if I get to the end and am let down. So, normally if there is a lot at stake (like the love of an entire series) I will read the last page first thing to see if I should prepare myself for the worst. When I purchased Harry Potter, I had to find out if Harry died. I couldn't read 600+ pages wondering the whole time. It would have killed me. Most people think this is a horrible compulsion and some even get kinda mad at me for "ruining" a book for myself. I like to get back at them by ruining the book for them too. :)

Last night, in the middle of Walmart, clearly the only woman there who hadn't read the whole series, and accompanied by the one man who hates ruined endings more than anyone, I had the strongest desire to stand by the registers and read the last page aloud at the top of my lungs. Maybe even with a bullhorn. I wonder how the 200 people in line would have reacted. THAT would have been worth a midnight trip to Walmart! (don't worry, no endings were actually ruined)

Sometimes I really like to know the ending too, and it drives Brandon crazy. If we're watching a movie that is really intense, then knowing the ending makes it easier to watch. Or if the movie is lame, but I want to know what happens, then if someone tells me the ending I can stop wasting my time watching the movie.

Way to exercise restraint by not ruining the ending. That would have been very mean. Hilariously awesomely mean.

That's hilarious.

I'm so glad you didn't actually read the end of the book out loud to everyone in line. I know if I had been there, I would have been so mad. :) You're sweet to go with Marshall to get that book!

I always read endings first! I had surprises and it drives everyone around me nuts! I also LOVE that your husband has read them. If only I can convince Brock to read them...
